I’ve just spent the first ten days of January in rugged and beautiful Carrigart. Giving thanks and taking stock of the many, gifts, challenges, and opportunities for growth in 2018. While in Donegal, I spent my time walking, immersing myself in nature, meditating and planning my goals and desires for 2019.
In 2012, I trained in Bio-Energy therapy & meditation and had always wanted to make a full-time career out of my passion, helping people. The feedback, I had got from my clients was phenomenal, but fear had stopped me from following my calling.
In January 2018, I decided to stop procrastinating and set up my Bio-Energy practice. Working for myself seemed overwhelming. The saboteur voice in my head was putting plenty of obstacles in my way. Bills still had to be paid; Where to start? What if I failed? I had to stop procrastinating and giving into my fears.
To overcome this, I followed some simple steps. Firstly; I drew up a list of all the things I needed to do, breaking tasks down into smaller achievable goals. After completing the goal setting exercise, things felt less daunting. I used my toolbox, meditating and visualising for 30 minutes every day. I committed to getting my goals broken down into smaller steps with agreed completion dates. Engaging a mentor helped enormously with my motivation and keeping me on track. When the goals were completed, I took stock and rewarded myself.
Thankfully, things took off very quickly; building my website, work with my private clients in Dublin and Dundalk, Nursing Homes, Start-Ups, and Corporates. I got to facilitate some amazing retreats in incredible places around Ireland like The Hill of Uisneach, The Hill of Tara and Hunting Brook Gardens. By facing up to my fears and procrastination their power over me weakened and disappeared.
