On Sunday the 14th of April we had our annual pre-Bealtaine Mediation Day and Tour on the Hill of Uiseanch.
Uisneach is located between Mullingar and Athlone at an elevation of 596 ft above sea level. The Hill is at the centre of the fifth Irish mythical province Mide. This province held the four modern-day provinces together.
The Stone of Divisions splits Ireland into her attributes; Battle in the North, Prosperity in the East, Music in the South, Knowledge in the West. The Stone marks the burial place of Eriu, Mother Earth, which Ireland takes its name from. The Hill is also the burial place of Lugh the Sun God. Both the divine female and male energies are present and balanced here.
Uisneach is one of the most sacred sanctuaries in the world.
On a clear day, 20 counties can be seen; from the Burren in County Clare to County Tyrone. What an incredible location to have our Bealtaine celebration.
On the morning, 20 of us gathered at the cottage on the foot of the Hill. Here we were treated to organic cold pressed green juices, teas and coffees. Justin and Marty from Uisneach gave us an introduction to the Hill and briefly provided some housekeeping rules.
At 10.30 we all met in the Yurt at the top of the Hill. The Yurt itself was decorated with May flowers and candles. An old stove lighting gave warmth and atmosphere to the room. The Meditations on the day were both meaningful and beautiful.
The first practice was a Grounding Mediation, to help us connect to ourselves and to the site.
Bealtaine is a time of fertility, so there was a meditation on manifesting our desires. This practice included going into meditation & connecting to our higher self. We then identified what manifestations we wanted to bring into reality.
Everyone was invited to write down their intentions on a piece of paper and fold them over. Justin and Marty lit a fire on the Hill and one by one we put our intentions on the Bealtaine fire.
When we returned to the Yurt, we were given a Bealtaine Candle and Candleholder to light and take away from the day. Our practice finished with the Universal Loving Kindness Meditation.
After lunch, it started to rain, but this didn’t dampen our spirits. Justin did an amazing tour of the Hill bringing together the folklore, the legend and the archaeology.
Before we knew it was four o’clock and time to go home!
After the day, I got some lovely messages. All saying how much people enjoyed the Hill, the meditations and the deep connection to the wisdom of Bealtaine.
In this Bealtaine season of fertility, what desires do you want to bring into reality?
